Every time I’ve gone to Africa, I’ve come back with fresh vision and clarity about my life and my work. The first trip, in 2009, was for my honeymoon, as my amazing wife is from Lesotho in Southern Africa. I returned in 2010 for the Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization. This summer we visited South Africa and Lesotho to introduce family and friends to our new daughter. Each trip has been memorable in its own way!
On this year’s trip, I realized that my vision for this website was far broader than it has been so far.
A major theme of my life will always revolve around the topics of existence of God, wrestling with doubt, answering objections, and providing positive reasons for the truth of Christianity.
However, there are other issues that grab my heart and deserve attention.
These topics fall into two main categories. The first is working through questions like: “What is our purpose in life?” “Why do we exist?” “What are we here for?” “What is the value of work, of family, of politics, the arts, and so on?” The second is providing clarity and encouragement for what it looks like to love our neighbors, to put our beliefs into action, to show our convictions in how we live.
In the next few days, I’ll be overhauling this website to reflect this broader vision. I ask for your patience as I do so and for your input as to what the next iteration of Reasons for God should look like. Thank you for your support, your interest, and your commitment to all that is going on at Reasons for God!
