For the past twenty months, the Reasons for God website has remained available but inactive. Perhaps coincidentally, my two children are both under the age of four!
I have continued to read and study, to grow in my relationship with God, and to think about how to creatively, graciously, persuasively, and joyfully declare the good news. To know personally the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit is to be overwhelmed with love. It is because God is love and we are God’s beloved that we are filled with love for our families, neighbors, friends, and world.
Recently, a spark of insight led to a fresh redesign of the Reasons for God website and social media presence. The new logo is three dots arranged in a triangle. The three-in-one unity is representative of the Trinity. But this is also the classical symbol for ‘therefore’, used in formal logic and mathematics, to indicate the conclusion of an argument. I think it is therefore a striking representation of the “Reasons for God” identity. A very careful study of the website will also reveal both new fonts and a redesigned layout. The redesign seems, to me, to be the gentle nudge that I needed to start writing again. For now, I hope these updates make visiting the website a more enjoyable experience for you.
As I begin to write on what I hope will be a more regular basis, I would love to hear from you. My plan is to focus most articles on the main focus of the website: resolving doubts and renewing purpose.
To get in touch, you can use our contact form for general feedback. If you would like to ask a question, these are often the fuel for my own research and writing. For the sake of encouragement and to enable the expansion of this ministry, please consider becoming a supporter. Down the road is filing for 501(c)3 status, web hosting costs, and other expenses. If you’d prefer, I’m generally active on Twitter and Facebook.
As I write to you, I can’t help but remember with gratitude what a simple initial motivation there was to start Reasons for God. In the context of campus ministry, I would often have the same conversation with multiple students on multiple campuses in the same week. I resolved to study those topics in greater depth and then to write as clearly as I could, in the belief that perhaps others were wrestling with the same topics. Since then, to my continued surprise, the website has been visited over 200,000 times. It led to my involvement as co-editor for True Reason. It has provided enormous joy and regularly stimulated me to read, to think, and to write.
Thank you for being part of the Reasons for God community. I welcome your prayers that I might faithfully serve Christ through this ministry. He taught us clearly: “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5, ESV).
